The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and there’s a renewed breeze in the air. That can only mean one thing: spring is finally here!
Punxsutawney Phil didn’t see his shadow on Groundhog Day, and we are so thankful for the arrival of spring!
With the change of seasons comes a transition of trends in weddings, including color palettes, flowers in bloom, and seasonal foods.
We’ve got a list of some of the top trends we’re loving for spring 2020 weddings to inspire you as you plan your big day:
1. Watercolors
Make pastels the center of your color choice! Watercolor palettes, with their subtle intricacies and uniqueness in every stroke, will give your guests a light, inspired feeling throughout your entire event. Whether it’s your save-the-dates, invitations, menu cards, programs, or signage for the ceremony, you are sure to find dozens of ways to incorporate watercolors into your overall vision.
2. Colored Gemstones
The world watched Kate Middleton begin her happily ever after fairytale with a gorgeous 12 carat sapphire originally belonging to Princess Diana herself. 10 years later, the timeless heirloom is still beloved not only for it’s intrinsic significance, but for it’s uniqueness! Many couples are deciding to forego a diamond in favor of other precious gems, personalizing engagement rings and wedding bands to fit their specific tastes at a fraction of the cost. You can find gemstones in just about every color and every shade imaginable, so don’t limit your search to just diamonds! Check out this compilation of gemstones from The Knot for ideas.
3. Green Vibes
Greenery can be an inexpensive way to liven up any decor while still using live plants. You can find ways to use greenery in just about every part of your ceremony and reception--from bouquets to table decorations, from potted plants as favors to chair decorations. Incorporate your favorite vines and succulents into your big day. It’s still hip to be green!
4. Charcuterie Boards
Charcuterie boards are a fantastic way to feed a crowd! There are endless ways to create an inviting charcuterie spread--the sky's the limit! You can incorporate a charcuterie board into your engagement party, your rehearsal dinner, cocktail hour after the ceremony, or even as a late night snack station after partying during your reception. Talk to your caterer to see if they have created a charcuterie spread before and if they have ideas for your specific venue.

5. Florals
The scene from The Devil Wears Prada about florals for spring just flashed through your mind!
Florals for spring might not be “groundbreaking”, but the fabulous, bold colors and large prints that have been taking over the runways are truly works of art. Don’t be afraid that you’re too cliche using floral prints for your spring wedding! Have your bridesmaids wear floral prints because you love the colors. Use the floral tablecloths you fell in love with but thought might be “too much”. Use edible flowers on the bride’s cake. Think big with your floral ideas!
